Orchestra will rehearse Thursdays 7:30 pm - 9 pm in the Band Room

Rehearsals for our Spring 2012 season begin on January 19, 2012. The choir is moving to Thursday nights! If you have friends or family who might be interested in our groups, please pass this message along. The choir will now rehearse on Thursday nights, 6 pm to 7:30 pm, at the William J. Johnston Middle School. Tentative location is in the choir room (to the right of the gym/middle entrance). We are in need of all voice parts. This is an amateur community group, that sings a variety of music types--popular, classical, folk, sacred, Broadway. We take adult voices; high school students are welcome. The orchestra will rehearse on Thursday nights, 7:30 pm to 9 pm, in the William J. Johnston Middle School band room. Please show up a bit early to warm up; we will start playing at 7:30. Our spring concert is on March 24th, 2012, at 7 pm, in the Bacon Academy Auditorium (dress rehearsal March 22, 7 pm). We will have a guest artist for this performance. Mr. Larry Gareau (see link below) will perform the Hummel trumpet concerto with our orchestra. In addition, Mr. Gareau will conduct a brass clinic during the afternoon before the performance (more information to follow). Larry Gareau bio and clips: http://harttweb.hartford.edu/community/about/faculty/windsbrass/lgareau.aspx Please check your schedule and see if you can join us for this performance. We are particularly in need of string players and choir members. Again, pass this email on to anyone who might be interested in joining our groups.

Additional Information

If you haven't yet paid your annual dues, please do; they are $35 for adults, $15 for students, and help fund our new music and costs to hold concerts.

Keep the orchestra in mind as you make your way around Connecticut, particularly if you are involved in musical activities.  We are particularly in need of string players, French Horn players, percussionists, and a bassoonist. All others are, of course, always welcome.
